After months of hints, speculation, and growing anticipation, the Brampton Beast Hockey Club has made one of the most significant announcements in the franchise’s history to date.
This past Thursday, May 29th, at an event held at Brampton’s City Hall, it was announced that the Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League, and the St. John’s IceCaps of the American Hockey League will serve as the Beast’s NHL and AHL affiliates for the 2015-2016 season.
Beast President and General Manager, Cary Kaplan, had the following to say about the announcement: “Montreal is the most iconic franchise in the NHL. They have shown a virtually unparalleled commitment to development from within. We are confident that partnering with Montreal and St. John’s will be instrumental to our own on-ice success, and will also add another level of credibility to the Beast brand.”
Fans who attended the affiliation event were treated to a laser show, a video message from Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin, as well as a Q and A period with a panel including IceCaps Assistant GM Vincent Riendeau, IceCaps Head Coach Sylvain Lefevbre, and the Beast’s recently appointed Head Coach Colin Chaulk.
As a partner of the Brampton Beast, Cosmos Sports is extremely enthusiastic about this announcement, and the overwhelmingly positive impact it will have on the team, its brand, and the fans in the upcoming season.
