This past weekend, Cosmos had the pleasure of taking part in Ted Rogers Sports Conference hosted by the Ryerson Sports & Business Association. The student run conference took place at the Ted Rogers School of Management on Ryerson’s downtown Toronto campus between Jan 26 – 28, and featured keynote speakers, panel discussions and interactive workshops.
Cosmos was pleased to work alongside the RSBA to sponsor an industry case competition. Teams of students were tasked with solving real world business challenges faced by Cosmos Sports & Entertainment on a daily basis. The teams were given the case earlier in the week, and given a few days to develop their solution, and craft a presentation as if they were pitching to a client on behalf of Cosmos. Saturday morning, the teams presented in front of a panel of student judges where three teams were selected to compete in the finals.
On site to judge the finals were Cosmos’ very own Evan Colborne and Shahbaz Dhillon. The two sat and listened attentively as the three finalist teams presented their cases, and then addressed questions.
All three presentations were extremely well thought out and put together, making the job of selecting the ultimate winner that much more difficult. But in the end, one team slightly edged out their competition.
A big congratulations to Bipasha Gandhi, Anurag Dalvi and Josh D’Lima for their impressive presentation.
The lucky winners have been invited to take in a Brampton Beast game at the Powerade Centre in a suite. They will also have the opportunity for a private Q&A with Cosmos President Cary Kaplan as well as networking with senior staff members of Cosmos Sports & Entertainment and the Brampton Beast.
All in all, Cosmos is thrilled to have been able to take part in the event, and would like to congratulate everyone at RSBA for all the hard work that went in to putting the event on.
Up next for Cosmos is the University of Guelph Sport Business Networking Night and Conference taking place next Wednesday February 7th. Cosmos President Cary Kaplan will be delivering a Keynote, and Cosmos staff Matt Hunter and Justin Bernardo will be on site chatting with students about the amazing internship, volunteer and career opportunities we have coming available over the next few months.
