On the evening of February 7th, Cosmos Sports & Entertainment President, Cary Kaplan, was invited to speak at the University of Guelph’s Sport Management Association’s annual Sport Business Networking Night.
The event, which took place at the University of Guelph’s newly renovated W.F. Mitchell Athletic Centre, saw upwards of 70 attendees over the course of four hours. Those in attendance had the opportunity to mingle and network with peers as well as a number of industry professionals from a broad range of sports & entertainment organizations including: the Toronto Blue Jays, Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, Canada Basketball, and Landmark Sport Group. This open and conversational forum afforded many of those in attendance the chance to ask questions or gain further insight into their area of particular interest.
As the keynote speaker, Cary had the opportunity to speak to a number of different topics relating to the sport business, and ways in which current students and new graduates can best position themselves to enter the industry. To conclude the event, attendees were addressed by UofG’s current Athletic Director Scott McRoberts, who brought forth news of the potential introduction of a Sports Management Minor, to be offered as early as the 2019 academic year.
