Friday, May 30, 2014 – This summer, the 2014 AUDL Championship Weekend is coming to Toronto. Held at the University of Toronto’s Varsity Stadium and organized by Cosmos Sports, this year’s event promises to display the most spectacular athletes in the sport. There will be 2 semi-final games played on July 26th and one championship final match on July 27th.
As one of the major hubs in the world for ultimate, Toronto is home to the Rush, the reigning AUDL champions. Since setting record-breaking numbers in attendance in their inaugural season in 2013, the Rush have been a wrecking ball, holding an undefeated record of 25-0. Backed by crowds averaging 1,000 in attendance the Rush will be looking to repeat on Home turf the July. Cosmos Sports also works with the Rush operating all ticket sales, sponsorship sales, game day operations, community and public relations, as well as media relations for the team.
The American Ultimate Disc League formed and started play in their inaugural season in April, 2012. They currently have a total of 17 teams in 3 divisions, with a variety of potential expansion cities for next season. Currently, there are Canadian teams in Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver. Ultimate is the fastest growing sport in the world and people are taking notice. The AUDL currently broadcasts one game per week on ESPN3.
