Friday, February 9th, 2012:The Mississauga St. Michaels Major’s are a junior ice hockey team in the Central division of the Eastern Conference in the Ontario Hockey League. After being moved from Toronto in 2007, the Majors found a home here in Mississauga at the Hershey Centre.
In a continued effort to build a relationship within the community, the Mississauga Majors are pleased to announce that they will be hosting the first ever South Asian Hockey Day on Sunday, February 26th. The Majors hope to bring together two diverse and rich cultures to put on a great event. The day will be full of fun for the whole family, including: a free skate after the game, a player meet and greet, cultural dances, hockey 101 (learn about the national game), the National Anthem performed by Panorama Indian Idol, and music by Saad & Ashan from the University of Toronto. If you’re looking to learn more about the great game of hockey, come out for South Asian Hockey Day to be entertained and educated!
Hockey has the ability to bring people together from all cultures in Canada through common interests and passion. Building on that, the Mississauga Majors are excited to continually take initiative to build and strengthen that passion within the community.
With tickets starting as low as $10.00, this event represents a great way to learn and become involved in the game of hockey. Come out to support your community at this amazing cultural event!
Proud sponsors of this event are: CMR Diversity FM 101.3 (Canadian Multicultural Radio), Hindi Times, Panorama India, and Bollywood - Movies of the Month magazine.
