The Brampton Beast Turning Heads in the ECHL with “Toss Your Jersey” Night

Friday, January 30, 2015

Cosmos Sports’ partner the Brampton Beast offers many different promotional nights throughout their season.  However, the team has taken recent publicity surrounding jersey tossing, and turned it into a positive community action.

The next Beast home game, set to take place on Thursday February 5th, will see the team take on Western Conference leading Allen Americans.  After the Beast score their first goal of the game, fans will be encouraged to toss hockey jerseys onto the ice.  These jerseys will then be donated to support the Moss Park Hockey League.  This league provides youth, ages 4-14 the opportunity to play organized hockey regardless of their socioeconomic background.

Since the announcement of this promotion it has garnered attention from around the league, and has even been covered by the Hockey News.

Cary Kaplan, President and GM for the Beast, had the following to say when asked about negative connotations currently associated jersey tossing: “The Brampton Beast do not typically agree with or condone the act of fans throwing jerseys on the ice, which we believe is disrespectful to the teams playing.  However, we did feel that a Jersey Toss night would be a fun and creative opportunity for us to give something to the great people at Moss Park, who amazingly provide free hockey to those who cannot afford it.  We hope our fans have fun with this, and appreciate that this is being done for a great cause.”
