University of Alberta Athletics Finish the Season on A High Note

Friday, March 20, 2015:

With the season drawing to a close for six of U of A’s teams, Cosmos Sports is pleased to recognize the successes of the volleyball, basketball and hockey teams.

The U of A volleyball teams, who had a dominant regular season, continued this play deep into the playoffs, and the results reflected as such.  With the Pandas taking 2nd place in the country, and the Golden Bears securing the CIS Championship title for the 2nd straight year.

Although CIS Championship hopes were short lived for the university’s basketball teams, admirable effort was exhibited during both the Golden Bears’ and Pandas’ time in the Canada West Playoffs.  And ultimately, the Pandas succeeded in earning a 5th place finish.

The most notable success of the playoffs was the Golden Bears hockey team who won their 15th CIS banner in thrilling fashion over the University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds.  The Pandas had an equally respectable finish, coming out of the season with a conference title to their name.

Cosmos assisted the athletics department in generating maximum revenue for all these home playoff events by implementing multiple strategies relating to ticket sales and revenue generation.  Examples of this included: developing a weekly email marketing campaign targeting past ticket buyers, as utilizing an outbound sales strategy directed towards season ticket holders, and larger groups including minor teams and community organizations.  Cosmos is also extremely pleased to note that the Golden Bears’ hockey team played their second last game of the playoffs in front of a sold-out crowd, where even standing room tickets were hard to come by.

Ultimately, Cosmos Sports is delighted to have played a role in U of A’s highly successful 2014-2015 season, and is proud to have assisted the university in bringing top-tier athletics to fans of all ages in western Canada.
